I will complete a review of MacLoggerDX in future posts, but for now I thought I would explain my rationale of making the switch. And on the odd occasion I did venture into digital modes. Its not HRD, its not an all in one solution, its a log book that can use the radios VFO, the rotor and DX cluster all together. Mid 2010 model with 2.8 core I7 and 8 gig mem.

Don has brought other great mac software to the ham community. Open Group description of strptime - summary: it converts a text string such as 'MM-DD-YYYY HH:MM:SS' into a tm struct, the opposite of strftime(). I like to support software companies early that are willing to take the risk and produce a product for something other than windows. So the solution ? well its not a solution to be fair. strptime() equivalent on Windows Is there a good equivalent implementation of strptime() available for Windows Unfortunately, this POSIX function does not appear to be available. You can replace server with the server's DNS name, IPv4 address, or appropriate Windows Name (including WINS name, SMB Workgroup Name, NetBios over IP name, or Active Directory PDC 'hostname'). Note the use of the backslash (\) instead of the forward slash (/) in the URL. It’s a combination of all the elements tethered together that makes the experience unusable. Windows-side CIFS URL syntax is as follows: \\server\share. Its not the fault of HRD, nor is it the fault of the Virtual Machine, The RS-232 - USB connectors. HRD over a Virtual Machine, using RS-232 connectors is unpredictable, slow and frankly unusable. I transitioned from PC to Mac around 3 years ago, and have been using a Virtual PC to do my PC based tasks (including my day job) and this is the issue. It supports close to a hundred radios, automatically tuning to the spots you are interested in, swinging your beam around.
In either case, MacLoggerDX can also log QSOs from WSJT-X, JTDX and JS8Call running on the same Mac, or another Windows, Mac or Linux PC on the same LAN subnet, fill in call book details and then optionally upload them to LoTW, eQSL, etc. Organizing and filtering the spots from your favourite DX Cluster for DXing, Contesting or casual rag-chewing. WSJT-X or JTDX can control your radio directly or through the MacLoggerDX built-in DX Lab TCP server. This I completely agree with, and my time using HRD was always a great experience and I would recommend the software to anyone. Amongst the re-tweets and comments i received, Danny (PA3DM) did mention that HRD is not just a logbook, but a full suite of digital modes, rotor and a rig control system. If you're not using NAT (all of your IP addresses are public), you can still configure a firewall allow rule for port 139 for just your server's public IP address while denying access for others.I recently tweeted that I had dropped Ham Radio Deluxe in favour for MacLoggerDX. Filtering specific service requests from an external IPv4 address to specific internal IP addresses is sometimes called port address translation (PAT). To avoid exposing local Windows users to outside connections from guests, you may want to configure your network's firewall (router, gateway, or managed switch) to forward all traffic for ports 137, 138, and 139 to your server if you're using network address translation (NAT). Many firewalls are automatically configured to block ports 137, 138, and 139 because many Windows users leave guest access enabled for shared files and printers. Windows Names and Browsing use ports 137 and 138, although you only need port 139 open to be able to connect to the server using an IP address or DNS name. The Windows file service uses TCP port 139.
